My Crib
Last Sunday I was over at my parents house cleaning up after dinner when I told my mother, "When I move home in a few weeks I'm going to make a sick crib in the basement!". My mom gave me a 'what-in-the-world-is-she-talking-about face', and then she said, "Why on earth would you want to build a crib in the basement?" I started laughing really hard, mean-while my dad, who surprised me in the first place for even know what sort of crib I was talking about, began to explain what a crib is to my mother. Then she looked at me and said without any question, "No you are not!!". Then my dad, feeling a little sorry for me, since my mother just destroyed my dreams within a matter of seconds, said very quietly and unsure, "She can if she wants." Haha, I love my parents. I've already got it all plotted out, and I'm super excited for it to all come together nicely.

Moving Away
It happened, I got my mission call!!
Growing up I always said I wanted to go on a mission (being young and naive). Then when I hit teenage years I decided that was a bad idea. Then at the age of twenty I REALLY wanted to go, I was dying to go, but couldn't because I wasn't 21 yet. Then when I actually turned 21 I didn't feel like that was what was in store for me. I moved into a really cute house by the Provo Library with my best friend Jessica Wilson and things just went from there. I started to think about the option of going on a mission. And it stuck. I prayed about it and finally decided to talk to my bishop about it. After all of the hoops you have to jump through, I got my papers all done and sent in on Sunday November 22nd 2009. I figured my papers would be two weeks out. So this past Wednesday (Only a week after I had sent my papers in) both of my parents called me about different things, but nothing about receiving my call. Then, that night at around 9:30, me and my roommate were watching a movie and falling asleep when my phone began to ring, I read the name on the screen "Dad". I thought to myself, and said out loud to Jessica, "Why is my dad calling me soooo late?" So I answer, and he said, "Brit, I just checked the mail and there is a big envelope from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints addressed to you, it might be your call". Jessica said at that moment my face appeared as though someone had passed away, and my dad was just relaying the message. I told Jessica it was here, and she said, "LET'S GO!" So we jumped in my car, and got on the freeway. Meanwhile, I called my brother Devin, and Justin to tell them to come to my parents house so I could open something! I had kept the fact that I was going on a mission a secret to most besides my parents and a few friends. So Devin and Justin came to my parents house. I was going to stand but I thought my knees might give out so I sat down on the carpet and opened my call. I began to read the letter to myself, and then my mom got mad at me and said, "BRITNEY! Read it out loud!!!" So I read it out loud. My voice got shakey, but I did not cry! (Surprise). My jaw dropped for a few minutes. I thought for sure I'd be going out of the states to some foreign land with different looking people, language and I'd have to eat brains for dinner. But NOPE, not what the Lord had in store for me. I got my call to Los Angeles California, Spanish speaking. I am to report to the MTC on January 13th 2010. Most calls are about 3 months away from when they open them. For some reason, mine was only over a month away! I was really sad about the date I was supposed to leave, only because I had told the McEwan family I would watch their children in February while their parents went on a cruise, and I was also hoping to save more money before I left to help pay for things. I was so dissapointed in the date that my head fell to the floor and I began to rub my head into the carpet. My mom said, "What is wrong!?" I told her that my departure date was a lot sooner than I wanted. But I knew it was supposed to be, so I decided to give up my dissapointment on that. There is no need to worry about something I can't change. In my area I have Beverly Hills, as well as Compton. I'm going to get a little taste of everything. I am also really GLAD I'm learning Spanish. I think it will be wonderful for me! I'm not sure that the actual reality of it has hit my just yet. I'm still pretty numb to the idea. But hopefully I won't get too sad about it once it hits me. Everyone has been really supportive and excited for me which is very helpful to make me have a positive attitude about going. I'm really excited to go preach the gospel and grow to be more christ-like. I know it is going to be hard, and that I'm going to have a lot of different emotions, but I know that I'm doing what is right, and that I'm following the promptings of the spirit in my life to guide me to where I need to be. I'm really excited to go and have crazy/sad/fun/spritiual experiences that will help shape me into the person that I need to become.

Finding Life
A friend told me yesterday that it's very important to wake up happy. Maybe, if it's not a regular occurrence for you, you should put a poster of Zac Efron above your bed, or make sure you have a symphony bar neatly placed on your nightstand, freshly peeled back so you can reach over and take a delicious bite to start your day off on the right taste. There are a lot of ways you can make this happen. You could set your alarm to wake you up with a little Barry White, or better yet Britney Spears, whatever you fancy. In my opinion, a 5 minute dance party, alone or with another soul, would be the ideal way to start my day off in the right direction. There's nothing like a few sharp moves and groves to some rockin tunes to get me going on a good high. I hope you have been inspired now to do whatever it takes to get your body physically and mentally prepared for a wonderful, delightful day!

I'm beginning to miss Interior Design (surprise!)
When I get bored at work (often), I enjoy looking at interior design and architecture. Believe it or not, but I learned A LOT of things in my classes this past year. I have forgotten most of them, yes, but once in a while, I remember, and it's so exciting! The design world is so wonderful. There are so many chairs, that have a name, or a coin on a dresser that is connected to the 1800's or a specific house design that was plotted out by Frank Lloyd Wright. The evolution of design has been a huge influence in the world around us. Everywhere I go, I see something I've learned about. Although I don't remember the architect, or the name of the chair, I still enjoy remembering the little things. My dream
is to design and build my own AMAZING house one day in a very beautiful location. I'm banking on marrying a rich man, who will let me do that,
otherwise my dream might be shattered. But for now I'll just keep dreaming. :) I also want to travel the world and see all of the amazing architecture.

The Seasons are Changing

To begin this fall season... bu dum bum! I'm sick. BUT wellness will prevail. I'm going to miss the warm sun and the summer breeze, but snow is pretty and fun to snowboard on. So I will hopefully survive. I bought a new jacket yesterday which I'm pretty excited to test out once the cold weather approaches.
I know that everyone is always comparing life to the weather or a storm of some sort, but as the seasons change it only reminds me that my life is always in motion. We are often entering a new door to a new experience. I dislike change, but lately I've been begging for it. We can't allow ourselves to get too set in our ways or we will be swept out from under our feet sooner or later. If we live our lives as if we are a swing, hanging long from the top of the metal bar, and as soon as a huge wind blows in it swings with the breeze and becomes one with it's surroundings. That is the only way we can come to cope and find peace with the situation we might be placed in. As long as we hold tight to the bar that we are connected to, the bar that gives us our main support and holds us up 24/7, we will survive, we will stand strong and be able to survive any breeze that might blow our way.

The Tub
The one thing I love to do in this world that doesn't cost money, unless you are not equipped with a tub, is to relax in the bathtub! When I lived at home I would get in the bathtub on almost a daily basis, with lit candles and music playing. It's SO relaxing. When I saw this picture I fell in love! That's it, I'm going to have my own outside bathtub. If you know me in ten years, and you would like to come test it out, please let me know before you come, so I can make sure I'm not in it. ;)Check THIS tub out.

School Time!
It is that time again, when the little kids have to wake up early, get their dora the explora and star wars back packs on and wander their little selfs to school. I have to admit, sadness comes to me when I think about the fact that I'm not going to school this semester. It's just not logical. I don't have money, and I'm not exactly sure what I even want to do in school, so why go aimlessly? I'm trying to figure it all out currently. So as for now, I am working almost 9 hour days 5 days a week to save up money. But as I watch my friends going to college, and all the little chitlets finding their way to school, I have great nostalgia for school. Learning is a wonderful thing.

Moving into my new crib
It all began at 4:00P.M. We (Jessica Wilson my new roommate and I) met our landlord to get the keys to our new home. My first question asked, "Are there a lot of spiders in here?" I'd write down his response but it was too long for words. Basically he said, "Never". Then within a few hours we both ran into 3 spiders. Jessica and I were waiting for her parents to show up with our twin beds, so we thought we'd take a run to DI and shop around for new furniture for our house. We got to DI and found two of the best chairs ever produced. Hers is a big bright red chair, which is in very good condition. Mine is a yellow fabricated wooden rocking chair, it is more amazing than words could explain. We were trying to figure out WHY someone would ever give that chair up, even if they were dead, it still wouldn't make sense. It does make a popping sound ever time you rock in it, but it's not TOO annoying (yet). We kind of went on a buying splurge and bought more than we could carry that day. Thankfully Jessica's parents were close with the trailer, so we could get all of this to our house. My favorite part of the night was when I was testing out my rocking chair and Jessica was moving some things in. All of a sudden a cat came running out of our bedroom and through the house right towards Jessica. She started screaming and it scared the cat so bad it started running up and down all the walls in our house consecutive times. The front door was open and finally after a while it found it's way outside. Jessica's face was priceless. She was jumpy about everything the rest of the night. Apparently the girl who lived here before us had 2 cats, which was not allowed in the first place. She happened to LEAVE them when she moved (idiot). So now we have an orange and black cat that look anorexic sitting on our porch all day long meowing for food. We feel bad, but we don't want cats. I named the orange one Venus. It tried to get into our house and I yelled, "Venus no!" It ran away. I told Jessica it knows it name. Our bath tub is amazing. It is one of those old fashioned ones that stands away from the wall with legs. There is a retched smell that comes from under the kitchen sink, we don't ask questions, we just keep the cabinet doors shut. One of the light switches for the kitchen is up about 6 feet from the ground, we just figure the people who built the home didn't want their kids to turn the lights on and off, wasting power like they do. We bought a TV from DI. It's a pretty good one. The actual screen is about 1/100th of the whole thing, but we all can't afford flat screens. I've never shared a room before. EVER. It's not bad so far, Jessica is a wonderful roommate. She is a mean sleeper though. If she is not completely awake she becomes that nasty old lady who lives next door and yells at you for no reason at all. Yesterday morning she said, "What is that NOISE!" I said, "My alarm" she said, "It has been going off ALL night long!" I said, "No, just this morning a few times." I replied, "No..." She said, "YESS!!!!" And I left it at that. No point in arguing with a dead person. Jessica told me to stop killing all the huge bugs that she claims are "mosquito killers". So I left this huge black one on the wall for a few days. Then my friend came over and said, "What's that on the wall?" Jessica said, "A mosquito killing bug". He said, "That looks like a nail with some lint hanging from it". "Ohhh." Our bedroom floor arches in the middle about 5 inches from the sides of the room. I'm sure our beds are completely slanted, but hopefully we'll get used to it. The girl who lives next door came over and introduced herself to us. She seemed nice, I said she could definitely beat us up if she wanted too, Jessica said she could definitely eat us up too. I'm sure we will become good friends. As far as Venus goes, we are starting to feel bad, should we feed them? As for now, I don't think we care enough just yet. I'm sure we will walk out on the porch someday soon only to find two dead cats. Animals.

Birthday Excitement

Today the memory of my last birthday popped into my head. It landed on a Sunday this year. My singles ward in Provo starts late in the afternoon at 1:30. It's nice for us "kids" to be able to sleep in til noon and then get up, get ready and be to church on time. On this particular Flag Day, I had a super runny nose. I'm not much of a tissue person, so I just conveniently wipe my snot off with the back of my hand. It's nice. So... As the meeting had just begun, I was sitting next to Mikelle, and I was rummaging through my purse for any sort of goodies. Luckily, I found a starburst and began to eat away. Mikelle looked over at me and demanded for a starburst by displaying her firm hand right in front of my face. I got the message, and leaned down for my purse. As I was leaning forward casually looking for a starburst for her, I noticed my runny nose building up. It felt like it had formed a wall at the end of my nose, so I wasn't concerned just yet. As I continued searching, Mikelle began to frantically wave her hands in the air and point at my face. I couldn't figure out what was going on, until I crossed my eyes and looked down. I had a string of snot hanging from my nose about 4 inches in length. I quickly grabbed the string of snot and wiped it on my black pencil skirt. Phew!! That was a close one. We laughed for a good two minutes. At the conclusion of sacrament meeting, my roommate Caitlin looked over at me and said, "What is all over your skirt?" At first I was baffled. Then I remembered, "Oh! It's just snot."

Ava=The Cutest Baby Ever
Ava is such a cute baby!! She is the newest member of our family and we are all so happy to have her! I'm so excited to watch her grow and see her cute little personality come as she gets older. I'm not a huge baby fan, to be honest, but I LOVE holding Ava for some reason.
Painting

I think there are two kind of people in this world. People who have the patience to paint, and people who don't. Not including that there is any talent, because I surely have a long ways to go, but having the patience to paint does not come easy for everyone. It is peaceful to me. I feel like I can concentrate on it, and express myself in ways I couldn't otherwise do.

The Lamp

I know this picture is terribly contrasty, but I HAVE to show everyone how cool my new purchase is! I bought this lamp at DI yesterday and I love it. It sounds like a million glasses shattering everytime you pick it up and move it, I'm super surprised it is still all comptely together. My thoughts are it is super old, and built to last. At night, when the air comes on it blows the glass circles and they hit eachother like a chime. It's a little on the creepy side, but I still love it! FYI, there was 2 of the lamps, I bought one because I'm not rich enough to buy both of them. It was 15.00$, incase you want one. :)

New Resolution Lyrics by Azure Ray
I saw this picture on a photography website and thought of this song. I love how music and photos can all relate to each other in one way or another. When I was in photography I did a project just connecting my photos to songs, and it was my favorite and most well done project by far. Two of my favorite things in this world, music and photography.

Heavy eyes hold position

It was a lucky prediction
Move on, move on
It's like the clock is pacing
The break of dawn
And our hearts are racing
Move on, move on
There's nothing changing
Don't undermine
My new resolution
Just to find
A different light
A new direction
Move on, move on
Now the record's skipping
I won't forget

Who Cares About Hair Anyway?

A few weeks ago I wasn't thinking straight, and I spir of the moment decided to cut only one side of my hair off. Cutting my own hair hasn't been an issue in the past, when it's supposed to be straight, but trying to cut it crooked and make it look decent is a little more difficult. With the help of my lovely friend KC, we attempted the act.
I'm sure you are all anticipating how it turned out. Let's just say, every single time my mother looks at me she says something like, "Britney your hair looks ugly, I'm going to cut the other side so you look normal." My latest and greatest favorite comment she said was, "If I tell you I like your hair, THEN will you fix it?" I just replied, "Mother, if you thought my hair looked good, then I would just tell you that you have a good sense of style."

Logan vs. Provo
Being born and raised in Utah Valley, Provo was just another neighborhood for me. When I was graduating high school and all of my friends were all headed off to school, the only thing I was looking at was my full-time Pier 49 job. Most of my friends went to BYU, the rest all spread across the state. I was never a fan of Provo. I didn't ever want to live there. I stayed at my parents house until I became brave and wanted to move away. Financially, I couldn't support myself, so I talked to my parents and they agreed to helped me with my car (my mom really wanted me to go do something good for myself). I had saved up enough money to be able to pay for tuition and rent etc. after working at the Bank of American Fork for over a year. I signed up for school at USU and was headed to Logan in the winter of 2008. I moved to an apartment called Garden Court. I lived there until the next Fall. I worked at a place called Creative Communications typing poems that were published into books. I cleaned my bosses mansion home during the summer full-time. Then when that Fall came I moved into a house just below Old Main Hill. I loved that house! I moved in with 3 girls I didn't previously know and I ended up loving them. I had the scary basement room, with a window the size of my head and carpet walls. But it ended up suiting me well. That room became my favorite one so far.

Now, on to the comparing part. Logan was fun, but it was boring too. The mall was the size of a large gas station. It had one main hallway, with your basic Hot Topic, American Eagle, and a creepy hooker shop. Shopping came down to Wal-Mart or Wal-Mart. Riding my bike down main street and through the older homes was the best! The fact that campus was up the largest hill in Utah, wasn't the best part of bike riding. I walked up Old Main every day, sometimes more than once. I'm still wondering why my legs aren't as tough as steel. If you ever needed a place to go, sit and relax, there was ALWAYS one.

I went running in Logan a lot. Running anywhere is exhilarating. The people who live in Logan are always nice. They are not weirdos from a small town, they are just good people. Campus was awesome! It was probably the best part. It was big enough that it felt like I was actually in college, but it was small enough that it was more personal. The weather, oh the weather! The bitter cold winters suck. That's it.
Besides when you decided to spend a portion of your life savings for snowboarding activities. I bought a pass, and all the goods for snowboarding this last winter because I didn't want to sit in my room next to the heater all day like I did the last one. So me and my friends went snowboarding whenever we could, and it was awesome! Beaver is a small resort, but it was good, and had personality. I enjoyed that. The summers are SO pretty! I really really love Logan in the summer. When it comes down to boys, once you meet one, they all have some connection, and no matter what, the next boy you date, will put you in a sticky situation. That is probably the worst part of living in Logan and being single. Logan over all, turned out to be a lot better than I though it would be. I grew so much individually as a person when I moved/lived there.
As for Provo, it is not as terrible as I thought it was. Although living at King Henry is probably one of the dumb choices I've made in my life. If you want more details just move there. ;) Most of my friends are married now, but I still have a few old ones that are around, so that's good. I like living close enough to my parents that I can just drive home whenever I want, but yet I'm not TOO close. Provo is flat, which is perfect for riding my bike around! There are lots of yummy places to eat food in Provo. There are lots of people everywhere, so you can meet new people all the time. There are a lot more job opportunities as well so you don't have to type "cat vs. dog" poems all day long. Utah Valley is pretty, it's just something I think I'm used to, since I've constantly been in this area since I was born. Speaking of born, I was born in the Provo Hospital, making Provo 2 props cooler. My mom was going to name me Whitney, but then last minute she decided to change it to Britney. I'm not the biggest fan, but I'm just glad my name is spelled Britney and not Brittany, or Brittney, or Britnay, or Shitney, (my brothers always used to call me that).

Oh... the beginning. I always wanted to create a blog, I just figured I don't have a family, or a life, so that would mean BORING for a blog. BUT, I also figured that maybe if I start this blog it will push me towards the whole family direction, just maybe... I am living in Provo currently, with my best friends, and loving it! I work a lot of hours every day, but my job isn't terrible, so I'll survive. I will most likely just work for a while and not take any classes until I can figure out exactly what I want to do with my schooling. When we are little we think that choosing between a pink popsicle or purple popsicles is the most difficult thing we will ever be faced with. Tears are shed, punches are thrown. Isn't life a joke sometimes? I wish we could just talk to ourselves at different times in our life. Right now I would tell myself when I was four, "Don't fret Britney darling, your brothers will grow up someday... I hope." Every experience we live will either bring us to a greater understanding or a taller barrier. We need to always remember that if we don't try and become better, we only become worse. And who in the heck wants to be around a crappy person? No one! As much as we hate the pace of life, it is far too amazing to not just try and enjoy it. One night I was bored in my apartment, and I decided to start cutting apart a few magazines I found sitting in front of me. I decided to cut out some words and put them on my wall surrounding my mirror in my bedroom. They say, "Love who you are". It's a tough thing, I know, but we should all at least try it.
